Do you offer spices whole or ground?

We offer spices by default as ground and blended, however, you may want to grind your own.  The oils in spices start releasing their flavor as soon as they're ground.  If you would like to grind your own, just let us know when you order.

How much spice will I get?

Each 1-ounce tin will yield approximately 7-12 teaspoons, depending on the blend.  Contents settle during shipment, so a heavy but fine-grain blend will look like less than a leafy herb blend.

Do you add extra salt, preservatives or fillers to your mixes?

No, we never add extra salt, preservatives or fillers to our blends.  Sometimes, a recipe will call for a small amount of salt, but we never add it to fill out the weight.  We do not use MSG or anti-caking agents.  It's important to store your spice blends in a dry, cool place to minimize clumping.  If you find that your spice blend has clumps, just use a fork or spoon to smooth out the mix.

How do I make a beverage from one of your mixes?

Instructions for brewing Home Cook’s Pantry coffee, cocoa and espresso mixes: Use 1 tablespoon per six ounces of boiling water.  Once ingredients are dissolved, use a standard coffee filter if you wish to sieve out whole spices (if applicable).  Adjust amount ratios to your taste.  Use with cream and sugar if desired.

Where in the world do you get your spices?

Our spices come from all over the world.  We work with American wholesalers who offer the freshest products, and organic when possible. They procure some spices and herbs in North America, and some only grow outside of the U.S. and must be imported whole. We can omit ingredients on request as all of our spice blends are fully customizable.

How long will be spices last?

When stored correctly, your spices should last one year from purchase date. Some herbs and spices lose their flavors quickly, so we recommend using within six months.

How should I store my spices?

Store in a cool, dry place, preferably away from light sources.  

Are your products gluten-free?

Yes, unless otherwise noted, our products do not contain gluten.

Do your products contain nuts?

We do make some blends using nuts.  Our facility processes these blends using care not to cross contaminate other ingredients, but we do make it known that common food allergens are processed within the same facility.

What is your return policy?

We value your business and offer a 100% satisfaction guaranteed return policy.  We will accept a return for an equal exchange of another product.  Just let us know and we will send instructions to initiate a return.  If you're still unhappy, we will refund your purchase, less shipping fees.
